Ghaziabad: A class IX student was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified persons, triggering protest demonstrations by villagers, who blocked a highway near Pilakhuwa village in Ghaziabad for hours, police said today.
The 15-year-old boy, Amit Kumar, had left his house in Pabla village last night with two of his friends on a motorcycle. After they reached near Pilakhuwa village, Amit asked the other boys to wait for another friend.
While they were waiting near the NH-24, two unidentified motorcycle-born persons shot Amit at point blank range, killing him on the spot, police said.
Agitated over the incident, villagers put the boy's body on the highway and blocked it for hours.
After an assurance by police, villagers lifted the blockade and handed over the body to police for postmortem.
