By Hindustan Times
Poonam Pandey's bikini pics on Twitter might be increasing her fan following, but drawing her a lot of flak of late. After Taslima Nasreen, it's Chitrangada Singh who has criticised the Kingfisher model on Twitter.
Chitrangada recently tweeted, "How do you compete with Poonam Pandey, when she is ready strip for kabbadi matches?" (sic)
"Though I have never met Poonam and no prsnl agenda, but guess she does her bathroom rituals evrydy and in sometimes that involves striping," she added. (sic)
Poonam Pandey however took the criticism with a pinch of salt. The lady tweeted, "it really feels gr8 when people use ur name to garner Publicity! it reminds me a dialouge from the film Guru - Jab Log tumhare khilaf bolne lage Samajh lo Taraki kar rahe ho."
Before Chitrangada, Lajja author Taslima Nasreen had reacted strongly to her 'attitude is like underwear' tweet. “Poonam Pandey got naked but not satisfied. She wanna do dirtiest things none did before. Wants to get f****d in public!(sic)”
Taslima further wrote “My protest agnst d objectification is 4 women`s dignity, not 4 publicity. My criticism ws agnst d video u endorsed.(sic).”
"Fuck what people say... Do YOU. Some people will hate you for it, but it's the ones that love you for it that are more important," Poonam had reacted to Taslima's tweet.
Nargis Fakhri: 'I dance to stay fit'
By Hindustan Times
Mumbai, Feb. 29 -- For someone who has been a professional model since she was 16, Nargis Fakhri knows the importance of being fit and fabulous.
The 31-year-old, who made her acting debut last year with Rockstar opposite Ranbir Kapoor, may not have received too many film offers, but her physiognomy has grabbed everyone's attention. Recently it was her enviable pout that grabbed newsprint all around. Giving lip service to fans, she reveals her secret, "Try rubbing some sugar with cream on your lips to exfoliate. It is also important to use a good lip balm to keep them well nourished."
Nagris, who has been a Kingfisher model, is also an ambassador for her crowning glory on the small screen. She reveals, "My hair has always been my greatest asset. And in my field, styling and experimentation can make it dull. I make I get a 20-minute deep conditioning massage with hot oil daily."
With her au naturale looks, Nagris reveals that she prefers to use organic products for skincare. "I drink a lot of coconut water to keep my system free from toxics. When I'm not shooting, I don't wear makeup and just let my skin breathe. Using aloe vera is also a good idea for smooth and wrinkle-free skin. And how would she define her style? Hollywood trainer wants to work with Farhan Akhtar
By Hindustan Times
Hollywood trainer Ed Chow, who trained celebrities like Clive Owen and Lucas Till, says he would love to work with Farhan Akhtar, who has been training hard for his next film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. "I was really lucky to meet Aishwarya Rai when she was working on The Last Legion with Colin Firth. There are actors like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Sara Khan. And I'd like to work with Farhan Akhtar - I've seen some of his work and I really liked it," Chow said in an e-mail interaction.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a biopic on legendary athlete Milkha Singh and Farhan is currently undergoing special training for his lead role in the movie. Similarly American actress Lynn Collins had to go through a fixed regime for her role as Dejah Thoris in John Carter, releasing in India March 9.
John Carter is about a man who gets transported to Mars and gets caught between 12-foot-tall barbarians. Collins plays a princess and her role was quite physical with a lot of wirework, stunts and sword fights. So a lot of preparation was required from her end, says Chow.
"It was a three-month routine with a variety of one- to two-hour-long training sessions, five to six times per week. It comprised taekwondo, fight training, boxing and kick-boxing on pads and focus-mitts for cardio.
"We worked on ab-workouts and core to prepare Lynn for the wirework she needed to do for stunts, and free-weights and machines focussing on different parts of the body each session. We also did a lot of plyometrics to make her legs strong," shared Chow.
The celebrity trainer says there was added focus on Collins' muscles, which made his job tougher.
"(Her character) Dejah Thoris has a lot of tattoos on her body and they were painted on Lynn every day of filming. We needed the muscles to actually show through the tattoos; so we focussed on getting a lot of definition in her muscles," he said.
According to Chow, Collins "was very focussed herself".
"She worked out every day on her days off and most days on set as well. It wasn't necessary as she had that down herself," he said.
So what is it like training popular faces?
"They are great to train. Celebrities are very highly motivated, extremely focussed and extremely hardworking. They will work very, very hard to get what they need for a part," he said.
What about a few general fitness tips for people who wish to get fit figures like celebrities?
"Fitness is actually about doing something regularly, every single week. It's about making the time to do something - like an exercise or a sport that you enjoy.
"Diet is important too - eating healthy food, small portions many times a day rather than three big meals a day and keeping carbohydrates down. I do believe in satisfying food cravings but it needs to be in proportion. So if you have a sweet tooth, it's okay to have a small piece of chocolate, but you can't have a whole chocolate cake," he said.

But they refused and his mother even said he will never get one," Sunil Khemriya, the officer in-charge of Garoth police station, told IANS.
"Soon Sujal went inside the room and using his mother's sari, hanged himself from the fan," he added.

By Hindustan Times
It’s been nine years since John Abraham made a sizzling debut in Jism (2003). And now the model-turned-actor, who has an MBA degree, is keen to build himself as an “honest, credible, commercially viable” brand with three verticals: actor, producer and director.
And, maybe even scriptwriter. His role model is Farhan Akhtar who started out as a writer-lyricist, before moving to producing, directing, acting and singing in movies. Today, he balances all his roles.
“Acting will always be my focus, and the big-budget films that define John Abraham such as Housefull 2, Race 2 and Dostana 2 will keep coming. But I also want to make commercial, entertaining movies that reflect my ideology. I want all the verticals to co-exist in a revenue model that benefits my studio and the paying public, ” he says.
John’s been working closely with Sanjay Gupta on Shootout At Wadala, which went on the floors on Thursday. For now, the actor has been reading up on Manya Surve and meeting those who knew the late gangster.
He’s also been brainstorming with Shoojit Sircar on Vicky Donor, JA Entertainment Pvt Ltd’s maiden production that opens on May 11. In September, his second production, Jaffna will kick off.
“Shoojit was surprised I knew so much about Sri Lanka and its history. I’m very socially and politically aware and know more about the world than what’s happening in Bollywood. I have been writing a lot recently, mostly fiction. Maybe one of the stories could turn into a screenplay and I could turn director,” he says, adding, “If the idea is good, I could fly with it next year or in two years or maximum five years.”
After almost a decade, actor John has turned the corner. And the buzz is that post his break-up with Bipasha Basu, he’s found the perfect match in Priya Marwah with whom he secretly tied the knot in Los Angeles earlier this year.
He laughs off the rumours, “Married? Thank God there aren’t any children yet. I’ve always been fiercely guarded about my personal life, so all I’ll say is that there’s a lot happening in my life now. It’s a new beginning.”
Jaffna in Sri Lanka
“George Clooney’s geopolitical thriller, Syriana (2005) ranks amongst my favourite films and I want to enter the same space with Jaffna,” says John, who’s gearing up to go shoot his second production in Sri Lanka with local artistes.Previously, his film Water (2005), which was nominated for the Oscars, was filmed in Sri Lanka. Refusing to divulge more, John insists that Jaffna will go beyond the LTTE and the contentious Tamil issue and surprise people with a well-researched story about what actually happened in Sri Lanka.
UP polls: State records 62 per cent voting in final phase
Polling in the staggered month-long exercise whose outcome is being keenly watched was marked by sporadic incidents of violence.
"The turnout in Uttar Pradesh was highest at around 60 per cent, recording an increase of 30.23 per cent over the 2007 turnout," Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi told reporters in Delhi.
UP had recorded a turnout of only 46.07 per cent in the previous assembly polls in 2007. The highest voter turnout so far was in 1993 when 57.13 per cent voters cast their ballots.
Quraishi thanked the voters for exercising their franchise and making a historic turnout in UP this time.
He said the turnout of women increased by 42.77 per cent, as compared to the last time. Of the total women electors, a total of 59.85 per cent women came out to vote in the 2012 assembly polls, against 41.92 per cent who voted in the 2007 polls.
"It is more than the turnout of men which is 57.82 per cent," said Quraishi, adding that "this is specially significant in view of the adverse gender ratio of voters in UP which is 816 women to 1,000 men".
Polling for the 60 seats, nearly half of which were bagged by BSP last time, in the ten districts began at 7 AM today and 62.04 per cent polling was registered till 5 PM, Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said.
In the last phase of polling today, several prominent leaders, including MP Jaya Prada, BJP national general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister of State Jitin Prasad, MP Mohd Azharduddin and SP leader Azam Khan cast their votes.
Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said that a maximum 67.25 per cent voting was registered in Jyotiba Phule Nagar district followed by 65.88 per cent in Pilibhit.
Bheemnagar registered 61 per cent, Bareilly 61.33 per cent, Bijnore 62 per cent, Shahjahanpur 61.33 per cent, Mordabad 61.83 and Badaun 59.17 per cent.
In Badaun, JD(U) candidate for Shekhupura seat Sanjeev Gupta was assaulted allegedly by SP supporters in Ujhani area.
In another incident, BJP and Congress men gheraoed a police station after some workers were detained.
Following the incident, deputy Superintendent of Police Rafeeq Ahmad was removed from the election duty.
Trouble started when the DySP allegedly assaulted some booth workers of BJP and Congress and took them to police station after which candidates of both the parties protested along with their supporters.
In the last phase, the fate of 962 candidates, including some political veterans in the 10 districts of Bijnore, Moradabad, Bheem Nagar, Rampur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Badaun, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Lakhimpur was decided.
At a booth in Jahangirabad in Sahaswan seat of Badaun sitting MLA D P Yadav had a dispute with security forces after being prevented from entering it with supporters.
Besides Samajwadi Party's Muslim face Mohammad Azam Khan, who is contesting from Rampur, the fate of minister Omvati in the Mayawati government from Nagina, BSP MP Jugal Kishore's son Saurabh from Kasta and Rastriya Parivartan Dal head D P Yadav, considered heavyweight from Sahsawan seat, were sealed today.
This phase was earlier scheduled for February four last but was later postponed to March three.
The influence of BJP MP from Aonla Maneka Gandhi, her son and BJP MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi, Union Minister and MP from Dhaurara seat in Lakhimpur, Jitin Prasad and Congress MP Azharuddin in their constituencies were tested in the final phase.
In the 2007 assembly polls, BSP had bagged 27 of these seats, while SP and BJP had got 17 and nine seats, respectively.
Around 57 per cent polling was recorded in the last six phases of the elections to the 403-member UP assembly which started on February 8 with the stakes being high for Mayawati's ruling BSP which is facing a tough challenge from Congress, BJP and SP.
An impressive 62 to 64 per cent turnout was registered in the first phase covering 55 seats. Nearly 59 per cent voting was registered in 59 seats for the second phase of February 11.
The third phase on February 15 saw a turnout of around 57 per cent in 56 seats. The next phase on February 19, covering Rae Bareli and Amethi, strongholds of Nehru-Gandhi family, also registered a turnout of over 57 per cent.
The fifth and the sixth phase on February 23 and 28 recorded 59 per cent polling in 49 seats and 68 seats respectively.

Karan Johar takes notes from Nasir Hussain’s movies
By Hindustan Times
To date, Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial outing, Student Of The Year (SOTY) remains a top secret. Except for a clutch of debutant actors, including Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia and David Dhawan’s son Varun, the director has managed to keep everything under wraps. But now, Karan is ready to open up about his forthcoming “youth” flick.
“It’s a young film. In a first for Dharma Productions, we are launching three new faces. After a long time (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998), I am revisiting the fun and frolic zone,” he says, adding, “I feel SOTY is a lot like a Nasir Hussain film. It has plenty of ‘jawani’ (youth) and ‘deewani’ (craziness), with loads of entertainment and songs.”
Although Karan refuses to divulge more, his next, like Nasir Hussain’s youth-centric films, is also believed to be a romantic comedy, featuring Alia, Varun and another newcomer Siddharth Malhotra.
Recently, Karan has been busy shooting a love song — choreographed by friend Farah Khan — with the three main leads in Kashmir. And even as he wraps up the work in picturesque locations, talks are rife that Kareena Kapoor has beaten Katrina Kaif to bag the female lead part in his and Ekta Kapoor’s co-production. “Nothing is confirmed right now. Actually, I’m heading back (to Mumbai) on March 5. Once I reach, I will meet Ekta and finalise the lead female actor,” clarifies Karan.
Nasir hussain, who? Late filmmaker Nasir Hussain, also famous as Aamir Khan’s uncle, was renowned for his musical entertainers. He directed several hits like Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Teesri Manzil (1966), Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) and Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin (1977). Later, he went on to produce cult films like Aamir’s debut, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992).
Doctor arrested for allegedly raping differently-abled teen
The girl, who is hearing and speech impaired, was found naked and unconscious in the Bankura Sammilani Medical College by her mother. She was admitted there on Monday night for chest pains. Yesterday, she was sent to Kolkata for medical tests.
"They asked me to wait outside and they took her inside. For two hours, they were inside. Then I went inside and saw that her clothes were not on her and she was crying. Then I shouted at the doctor, asked him is this how you do treatment?" the victim's mother said. She added that her daughter later told her everything using sign language.
Hospital officials insist that the family has mistakenly accused the doctor in question of rape. They say he was examining the victim. The hospital has also formed a three-member committee to investigate the complaint.
