Who stopped Salman Khan's shoot?

By Hindustan Times

Hanumant Rao Patil, a notorious film federation employee (FWICE) barged into Salman Khan's shoot and stopped it. The shoot was taking place in Mehboob Studios in Bandra.

"Patil, a self-styled king (read mafia lord), who has been going on upstaging Bollywood shoots for the past few months and tormenting filmmakers in the Hindi cinema industry, recently stopped a commercial shoot featuring the actor. In fact Salman was left cooling his heels in his vanity van. And this unpleasant incident has not gone down too well with the other members of FWICE," reports Mumbai Mirror.

Patil reportedly asked Raman Lamba, in charge of the production, to cough up Rs 66,000. Introducing himself as the head of 'Still photography Department' of the FWICE, Patil asked Lamba to pay up the required sum before continuing with the shoot, as he's not registered with the organisation, according to the tabloid.

"Stopping Salman's shoot is just not done. The same goes for any other shoot actually. FWICE is not here to inconvenience people. We don't demand money from people. We resolve issues amicably. What Patil is doing is just not done," the Vice Chairman of Allied Mazdoor Union, a part of FWICE, Prem Singh Thakur told the tabloid.

As for Patil, the federation has now decided to take strict action against him. "Patil has been harassing filmmaker for a long time. We want to sack him very soon," a member informed Mumbai Mirror.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag shoot scares away drug dealers!

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, March 13 -- Punjab's Ferozepur district is infamous for its drug network. But a Bollywood film, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, has apparently played a positive part in alleviating the problem.

The story goes like this: when Rakeysh started shooting in the mofussil town on March 9 for the Farhan Akhtar film, the unit was surprised to see the streets deserted after sunset. In fact, the entire town was so quiet, that some of the streetlights were even turned off after a point in the evening.

"All of us were shocked when we arrived. But after we started shooting, the town was lit up and seemed busy again, thanks to the number of unit members working on location. Later, the locals observed that the usual drug peddlers were not to be seen on the streets. We have been told that the dealers are scared to continue their illegal activities amidst so many people," says a unit hand.

Apparently, the locals of the Indo-Pakistan border town are happy that the film unit has made the place safer for them to move around after dark. When contacted, Mehra confirms, "We were all taken aback to see the town so dead in the evening on the first two days. That's when we found out the ground reality from one of the locals. It's great that our shooting schedule in Ferozpur has affected the town in a positive way."

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is the biopic of legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh. While Farhan plays the title role in the film, actor Sonam Kapoor is the female lead.

You can shoot for Kailasa's tracks!

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, Feb. 27 -- Singer Kailash Kher and his band, Kailasa enthralled Mumbaikars with a scintillating concert this weekend. The show, which was a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, saw the 'Allah ke bandey...' singer belt out popular songs of the world-renowned Pakistani musician, including 'Tere bin nahi lagda dil mera dholna..' and 'Kinna sona...'.

Kher, who is known to chat with his audience between songs, admits that sharing experiences with them makes it a more personal experience for him. He explains, "In India, it is very rare that people pay R3,000 for a concert. So, it feels good to know that you have true fans in the audience, which makes sharing personal trivia even more of a personal experience."

Recently, he had posted on his fan page, requesting people to create videos of songs from his album for free. "I wish to make videos of all songs from Kailasa's album, Rangeele. I am quite happy with the response my request has received. While videos of three songs have already been made, the fourth is on its way. It's being made by students from a film institute as a diploma project," he says, adding, "We will soon launch a contest on our Facebook page, where people will be asked to make videos of the songs 'Katha gaan...' and 'Ujaale baant lo...'.

The one that receives the maximum 'likes' will be the official video for that song." The singer, who has sung for upcoming films Agent Vinod, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh, will be travelling to Pakistan and Bangladesh with the band next month. He also plans to head for an international tour with Kailasa in April.

Ask him if there are any plans to collaborate with any international artiste, and he says, "Collaboration requires a lot of time and commitment. I'm afraid I don't have that kind of time right now. I'll do that when the time is right."

Asin loses 10 kilos for Housefull 2 shoot

By Hindustan Times

n Bollywood, weighty issues are never in short supply. Now, Asin seems to have joined the bandwagon. The actor lost around 10 kilos after wrapping up the first schedule of Housefull 2 in London around June last year, just in time for the second leg, which kicked off in Mumbai in September.

“We were surprised to see Asin in a lighter avatar. But instead of panicking, everyone — including Sajid (director Sajid Khan) —loved her new look as it was only going to work as a value addition,” says an insider in the unit.

Although makers approved of Asin’s slender figure, they had to make certain adjustments. To start with, the camera was placed a little further from the actor than usual. Plus, some clothes meant for certain photo shoots had to be adjusted.

“Indian dresses such as the ghagra-choli were altered to fit Asin. But they had to replace the dresses with the same designs in smaller sizes from costume designer Aki Narula because the old ones were too big for her and couldn’t be altered,” says the insider, adding that the development cost the production house R2.5 lakh extra.

When contacted, director Sajid Khan says, “I really don’t know if Asin lost weight or not. All I will say is that she was looking terrific during our second schedule. And I don’t think any director can complain if his actor is coming across as being even more beautiful and has shed flab.’” Asin’s team, on their part, denies the weight loss.
