Akshay Kumar teams up with Ghajini director!

By Hindustan Times

Just two-and-a-half months into the New Year, actor Akshay Kumar’s plate is brimming with fresh projects. Come May-June, and he will turn into a gangster for the Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai sequel. He also has films like Oh My God!, Khiladi 786, Rowdy Rathore and A Wednesday director
Neeraj Pandey’s next, lined up. In the midst of all these, he has just taken up the Hindi remake of Mammootty’s Pokkiri Brothers, and a film by former Balaji associate Ashwin Varde.

And if all this wasn’t enough, the action hero has been signed on to fill south star Vijay’s shoes in the Hindi remake of Thupaki, directed by A R Murugadoss. The Tamil movie, revolving around a man’s journey from a small town to Mumbai, where he becomes a don, is still under production. But once the shooting wraps up, it will be remade in Hindi with Akshay in the lead and Murugadoss as the director again.

This is the filmmaker’s second Bollywood movie to be remade from his own Tamil repertoire. Back in 2007-08, he worked with perfectionist actor-producer Aamir Khan on the Hindi remake of his Tamil hit, Ghajini. Vijay and Murugadoss were recently in the city to film a host of crucial scenes. Akshay is understandably happy to associate with another maverick filmmaker.

“Murugadoss is a genius. He did a fabulous job with Ghajini and I’m extremely happy that we’ve managed to sneak in time to work together,” he says, adding, “I’m sure you’re wondering with so many films, and other assignments, how I am going to manage this project. Let me tell you that if I can’t deliver, I won’t commit. And instead of taking it negatively, people should take the gesture positively, because the more the stars work, the more employment is generated for spot boys and other workers on the sets who run their kitchens on daily wages even today.”

Comedy is difficult: Akshay Kumar

By Hindustan Times
He has proved to be a khiladi of both genres - action and comedy. But kicking and boxing in front of the camera is far easier than making the audience laugh, says Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.
"Action is easy, it is very easy. Comedy is difficult," Akshay told IANS in a chat on the sets of Neeraj Pandey's Special Chabbis. After a shot, the 44-year-old relaxed in the balcony of an old-structured house in Connaught Place here.
"You know...you can kick your legs, punch someone very easily and do action. In fact, action can even look great through camerawork. Also, for an emotional scene, you can put glycerine in the eyes and make any artist cry, and the viewers think he is crying, so people also start crying," said the actor, looking fit and smart in trousers, a shirt and sleeveless sweater.
"But to make someone laugh, you have to work very hard. It's very difficult to make people laugh. So comedy is tough...the toughest," he added.
Akshay became the undisputed action star of Hindi films with projects like Khiladi, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, International Khiladi, Waqt Hamara Hai and Mohra.
In 2000, he tried his comic timing in the hit movie Hera Pheri. It was followed by others like Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhaag, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, Housefull and Tees Maar Khan.
"Nothing has changed about comedy. People enjoy what you give from the heart. Don't try and go by the trend. Go with your heart and mind...if you do your work with sincerity, it will always work," said the actor who has done about 100 films in his 25-year-old career.
"The audience only enjoys an entertaining film. See, the black and white film The Artist is the talk of the town. Who knew that a black and white silent film would come in 2012 and do so well and take away the Oscar?
"So if you make a film with your head and heart, it will always have a connect with the audience," said Akshay, who is now awaiting for the sequel of Sajid Khan's 2010 comic film Housefull to hit the theatres April 5.
Housefull 2 has been subtitled The Dirty Dozen, thanks to the number of artists in it.
Apart from Akshay, it has Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade and John Abraham, with Jacqueline Fernandez, Asin Thottumkal, Shazahn Padamsee and Zarine Khan in the cast. They are joined by senior actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Boman Irani to complete the dirty dozen.
Unlike most stars who find it cumbersome to work with so many actors, Akshay says the experience was unmatched.
"Multi-starrers are fun to work on. There are so many actors, so many people that you end up laughing and giggling with even during the take. The director gets fed up and says cut, but somebody or the other keeps goofing up or saying something wrong," he said.
"A director needs to have patience enough to put up with all of this. It's a very difficult job to do. But Sajid does it well. Sajid is a mad man, and only he can handle this," he added.

I’ll always be a Delhiite: Akshay Kumar

By Hindustan Times

Akshay Kumar may have shifted base to Mumbai for acting but he remains a pukka Dilliwala at heart. “I can’t stay away from Delhi and therefore I keep coming back every two to three months. I own a house here, I was born here, so nothing can separate me from Delhi. I am a pukka Delhiite,” says the 44-year-old actor, who is currently shooting in the city for Neeraj Pandey’s film, Special Chabbis.

Relaxing between the shots in his vanity van and dressed in a navy blue sweatshirt and khaki capri, Akshay was watching a cricket match on TV, at the shoot location at Barakhamba Road. “The air of this city is such that it makes you feel relaxed and at peace… Bombay ka toh bura haal hai. I love being here,” he says.

He adds, “The city might have undergone a huge change infrastructure-wise but the people here are still the same. Delhi mere ghar jaisa hai kyunki yahan ke logon mein pyaar aur apnapan bahut hai, unlike Mumbai where everyone is too formal.”

Though tight-lipped about his character in Special Chabbis, Akshay eagerly talks about his other films. “I have huge expectations from Housefull 2 as the audience wants to see sequels. I’ve got requests to make Singh Is Kinng 2 and Namaste London 2. So, the sequel will work only if the script is good.”

Trouble in his marriage with wife Twinkle was the latest controversy that made Akshay hit headlines recently. “I don’t know where these rumours come from. Professionally, I might have got used to them but you can’t raise fingers at my personal life. I sued the concerned publication and am seeking an apology,” says Akshay, who found it too personal to comment about wife Twinkle’s rumoured pregnancy.

Akshay Kumar upset with Shirish Kunder!

By Hindustan Times

Shirish Kunder, who was recently in news for his tiff with Shah Rukh Khan, has apparently angered Akshay Kumar this time.

The buzz has it that Akki was very upset with the director after watching the rough cut of his upcoming movie Joker.

The Khiladi Kumar was unhappy with the way the film had turned out, and demanded quite a few changes in it.

The 44-year-old actor was reportedly so angry with Kunder that he shouted at him and almost decided to walk out of the film at the last moment.

Akshay Kumar however trashed the report. He tweeted, "To anyone who has read or heard the rumour that I was upset with my director Shirish Kunder, sorry to disappoint you but that's exactly what it is, a RUMOUR!! I haven't seen Joker yet, so I have no reason to be upset."
