Woman bites new-born daughter to death in Assam
Karimganj, Assam: A woman bit her new-born daughter to death in Assam's Cachar district on Tuesday, police said today.
Amela Begum Laskar gave birth to her third daughter 18 days ago in Ganganagar area of the district. After this, she started behaving insanely, claim her neighbours.
Last night, she locked herself in a room. When her husband broke open the door after he heard the toddler cry, he found the child dead. The new-born had bite marks on her neck.
Police arrived on the spot and managed to overpower the woman.

Gonda: Woman set on fire for resisting rape
Lucknow: A 22-year-old woman in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, was burned after she resisted a rape attempt on Saturday.
As per her account, her child had gone to a nearby shop when an unknown man entered her house and started harassing her. When he moved to close the door, she ran out of the house. She returned after some time, believing that the man had left. As she was feeding her child, the man came from behind, poured kerosene over her and set her on fire. She said the man was attempting to rape her.
The woman had been hospitalised with serious burn injuries. A report has been registered by the police.

Woman dragged into car, molested in suburban Mumbai
Mumbai: A woman in her 20s was forced by a group of four men into a car in Mumbai's Goregaon area on Wednesday afternoon; she says she was then blindfolded and molested.
She was exiting a cyber-cafe when the men grabbed her. They robbed her of the jewelry she was wearing as well.
They allegedly allowed her to leave the car when she told them she was pregnant.
A case of attempted rape and robbery have been registered by the police.
